Maybe We Should Slow Down?

The AI Revolution

It is hard not to think about AI. It is everywhere, everything, all at once for us in the software industry. The most difficult part is this expectation that AI will make a developer code 1000x faster and the next greatest feature should have been released yesterday. It has created many toxic environments in our industry. It is not uncommon to see companies lock their engineers in rooms with a couple of AI tools and expect the world in a sprint. If the team doesn't deliver, they are cut.

I wish that this was an exaggeration. The reality of these tools is much more complicated. They are undeniably powerful. Can we take a second to figure out where their power is best applied?

I was thinking of writing a full article about this concept when a friend passed me one already written. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
